About Us
Our Story
Kalami was born in 2020, right in the middle of a world that felt a little uncertain, but our kitchen was always full of warmth, laughter, and the smell of good Filipino food. What started as a simple family passion project in Barrow-in-Furness quickly turned into a community favourite. Friends told friends, family told coworkers, and before we knew it, our little home kitchen became a go-to spot for people craving honest, comforting flavours.
But Kalami isn’t just about food. It’s about heritage.
It’s about the recipes passed down through our family, the flavours that remind us of celebrations back home, and the joy of sharing a piece of Filipino culture with the place we now call home.
For us, cooking has always been a love language, a way to bring people together. Every dish we make carries a bit of our story, our traditions, and the pride we feel in keeping those memories alive.
As the years went on, demand grew (way faster than our tiny kitchen could keep up with!). Like any real family business, we’ve had our highs, lows, messy moments, and learning curves, but the heart of Kalami never changed. We stayed grounded in what truly matters: good food, generous portions, and genuine connection.
Today, Kalami is evolving. We're working toward opening a proper space where locals can pop in, sit down, and enjoy Filipino comfort food made fresh with the same love we started with. A place that feels like home, even if you’re thousands of miles away from yours.
Thank you for supporting our journey, sharing our dishes, and helping our small family dream grow.
Welcome to Kalami.
